The role of left atrial appendage (LAA) imaging is gaining attention as electrophysiologists come to appreciate the complexity of the LAA anatomy, physiology and function. Atrial Fibrillation is a common condition and is associated with significant morbidity from cerebrovascular events (CVE) associated with embolic phenomena, with 90% of thrombi believed to originate in the LAA. This short recording gives a simple overview of AF and LAA device closure and describes the role of cardiovascular CT in the assessment of the LAA, both pre- and post- device occlusion, with tips and tricks for fully assessing the LAA and ensuring accurate assessment and diagnostic images.
