OPPS Toolkit

Medicare Targeted Probe and Educate

SCCT's reimbursement resources provide the essential guidance and tools for healthcare providers to navigate the complex world of medical billing, coding, and reimbursement, ensuring they receive fair compensation for their services.

The OPPS toolkit is a resource designed to assist healthcare organizations and professionals in understanding and implementing the Outpatient Prospective Payment System, facilitating accurate billing and reimbursement under Medicare for outpatient services.

Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) have created webinars, YouTube videos and other informational resources to communicate about the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Targeted Probe and Educate initiative. This initiative is aimed to strengthen Medicare's review of claims and medical record documentation.

Some SCCT members have had experience with being selected for this review. SCCT encourages all providers to take time to view these important materials. Below are links to the Medicare Administrative Contractor websites with important information on the Targeted Probe and Educate initiative.
