SCCT Starter Kit

What is the Starter Kit?

The SCCT Starter Kit is a collection of tools and resources to help community hospitals and cardiology and radiology practices plan, launch and operate a cardiovascular CT service. The Starter Kit provides useful resources to healthcare facilities in a comprehensive, easy-to-access online portal.

What is included?

The Starter Kit is structured into these major sections:

  • Upfront Planning — The tools in this section can help site administrators explore project planning and budgeting for a new cardiovascular CT service line.
  • Equipment & Facilities — Resources in this section focus on deploying the most significant investments required for setting up a CT service: scanner selection and preparing facilities at your institution for properly housing and operating the scanner.
  • Services & Personnel — Detailed information to help your institution carry out a capabilities analysis and develop a strategy for the clinical services to be provided as part of a CCTA service. In addition, this section lays out the training and education required of physicians and technologists who acquire and interpret CCTA.
  • Daily Operations — This section provides tools and samples for marketing your site’s cardiovascular CT services to a variety of audiences; a library of policy, procedure and report templates; and materials for managing day-to-day operations including billing, scheduling and maintenance information.

What types of resources are included?

Resources will be labeled as follows:

SCCT endorsed resources: Materials authored and/or reviewed and approved by SCCT’s leadership to ensure the content reflects the most up-to-date training and credentialing protocols, evidence and clinical practice guidelines and present balanced information. Endorsed resources include scholarly articles, fact sheets, summaries, evidence collections, training protocols, expert consensus documents, guidelines and other materials.

Non-endorsed materials provided by industry: SCCT has deemed these materials potentially useful to Starter Kit users, but their inclusion in the Starter Kit does not imply SCCT endorsement of all the information therein.

Templates: Useful forms, pro formas, descriptions and other materials that users may download and tailor to their institution’s needs as they deem best. Users are solely responsible for how templates are used and altered.

Discussion board: An online community to lean on and learn from. All questions will be reviewed and responded to by industry and field experts to assist you with the most nuanced inquiries.

Who compiled the Starter Kit?

The Starter Kit is a project of the SCCT Advisory Council, which provides industry and policy insight to the SCCT Board of Directors. SCCT leaders reviewed the collection to ensure documents reflect the most up-to-date training and credentialing protocols, evidence and clinical practice guidelines.

While the information provided is supported by up-to-date clinical evidence, the Starter Kit does not purport to be a fully comprehensive collection of scientific evidence. The kit aims to provide information that is practical and actionable. It will provide links so that details, lectures, clinical practice guidelines and other sources of information are easily accessible to those who wish to learn more.

How much does the Starter Kit cost?

The Starter Kit is included with SCCT membership. Alternatively, it is available to non-SCCT members for a subscription fee of $99 per year.
