SCCT announces plans to take 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting virtual

Arlington, Va. (May 4, 2020) —The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) announced plans today to hold the SCCT 15th Annual Scientific Meeting in a virtual format. The in-person meeting planned to take place in Seattle, Wash., has been cancelled, due to coronavirus-related restrictions on travel and gatherings as well as concern about the health, well-being and safety of our attendees, faculty and their patients.

The first-ever virtual conference will be held Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18. The virtual event will feature the same high quality education of the in-person meeting, and will include three session channels, abstract presentations and the ability to interact with presenters.

“The health and safety of all our Annual Scientific Meeting attendees and the patients they serve is SCCT’s utmost priority” says SCCT President Ron Blankstein, MD, MSCCT. “With that in mind, the Board of Directors made the decision to move forward with a virtual meeting format.”

This virtual meeting will offer an online learning experience that provides significant professional and scientific educational opportunities for members and attendees. The Annual Scientific Meeting is designed to engage physician and healthcare professionals in a comprehensive exploration of the most current developments in the field of cardiovascular computed tomography principles, methodologies, appropriateness criteria and clinical practice.

“A tremendous effort has been made to revise the virtual program, demonstrating SCCT’s commitment to bringing the latest and most cutting-edge scientific research in cardiovascular CT to its audience and stakeholders” says Annual Scientific Program Committee Chair Koen Nieman, MD, PhD, FSCCT. “We hope you will join us online in July.”
