Arlington, VA (June 17, 2021) — Three radiology and cardiology trainees have been selected as finalists for the 15th Annual Canon Young Investigator Awards (YIA) in cardiovascular computed tomography. Each finalist will present their research at the 2021 Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) Annual Scientific Meeting, July 16 – 17, virtually. The YIA program supports the professional and clinical development of top radiology residents and cardiology fellows within five years of completing a training program.

“SCCT greatly values the long-standing partnership with Canon Medical Systems, a company that recognizes the importance of promoting the research, writing and oral presentation skills of trainees,” says co-chair of the YIA judging panel, Marcus Chen, MD.

Adds YIA judging panel co-chair, Rene Packard, MD, PhD: “'SCCT has a commitment, shared by Canon, to foster the development of radiology residents and cardiology fellows so they can become future leaders.”

The following three finalists will give an oral presentation of their manuscript before an independent panel of judges on Friday, July 16, from 1:40 to 2:15 pm ET:

  • Omar Dzaye, MD, PhD | Johns Hopkins University, United States
  • Andrew Lin, MBBS, BMedSci, PhD | Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, United States
  • Hidenobu Takagi, MD, PhD | St. Paul's Hospital, Canada

The judges will select one winner, who will be announced at the closing ceremony on Saturday, July 17. Each award winner’s manuscript will be eligible for priority peer-reviewed publication in the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT).
