Dustin Thomas, MD, FSCCT

Dr. Thomas is a graduate of Depauw University (Class of ’02) and Indiana University School of Medicine (Class of ’08). He completed Internal Medicine residency training at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA followed by cardiology fellowship at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. Following training, he stayed on as a key clinical faculty for the cardiology fellowship, serving as director of cardiovascular research and cardiac CT imaging. Dr. Thomas has served as a volunteer for the SCCT for over 5 years on the fellow and resident (FiRST), membership, CME, and advocacy committee. He served as the chair of the FiRST committee from 2015-2016 and currently serves as the chair of the advocacy committee. Dr. Thomas believes the time is now to work toward more standard, widespread coverage for cardiac CTA and CAC scanning nationwide. He believes that advocacy focused on more appropriate reimbursement for cardiac CT will help to grow the field in line with the compelling data published over the last 5-7 years. He will continue to partner with the education committee to educate members on how to advocate effectively on the local level to improve coverage and reimbursement.
