“It is with great pleasure that we present Dr. Jeffrey Carr with the 2023 Gold Medal Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Society,” says SCCT President Brian Ghoshhajra, MD, MSCCT. “This medal recognizes Dr. Carr’s exemplary leadership of SCCT as displayed throughout his decade of service on the Board of Directors.

“His incredibly generous contributions have been essential in establishing and maintaining stability for the Society, via his insights, guidance, and his unprecedented philanthropic donations in support of trainees. We offer our heartfelt congratulations and gratitude to Dr. Carr on behalf of our members and staff for his vision and continued dedication.”

Dr. Carr is the Cornelius Vanderbilt Professor in the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and a founding member of SCCT. During his term on the JCCT Editorial Board from 2018 – 2022, the journal accomplished a rising rate of submissions, a reduction in time from abstract acceptance to publication, an increase in online article downloads and a significant increase in impact factor to 5.2.
