Two-day annual conference accepts record abstracts, registrations

Amsterdam, the Netherlands (Feb. 20, 2025) — The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) hosted its Global Meeting in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from February 6 to 7, 2025, receiving a record 80 abstract submissions as part of the conference.

“It is my honor to welcome the cardiac imaging community to the Netherlands and the beautiful city of Amsterdam,” said Program Committee Chair and Past President Koen Nieman, MD, PhD, MSCCT. “SCCT extends its congratulations to the winners of the Best Abstract and Rapid Fire awards for their exceptional work pushing the field of cardiovascular CT forward.”

The distinguished panel of six judges awarded Melinda Boussoussou, MD, PhD with Best Abstract for her submission, “Comparison Of Photon-counting Detector CT And Energy-integrating Detector CT For Detecting Obstructive Coronary Artery Disease.”

Selected as top among the meeting’s 14 highest scored abstracts, her study compared photon-counting detector (PCD)-CT and energy-integrating detector (EID)-CT for detecting 50-70% stenosis, using invasive coronary angiography (ICA) as the reference. Her team found that the PCD-CT system demonstrates superior per-vessel and per-segment diagnostic accuracy in detecting obstructive CAD in symptomatic patients compared to those scanned with EID-CTs.

The Rapid Fire Case Presentations featured 5-minute talks from five finalists whose abstracts received the highest reviewer scores. The judging committee – led by Maros Ferencik, MD, PhD, MCR, MSCCT and Armin Zadeh, MD, PhD, MPH, MSCCT – selected winners based on originality, execution, presentation, SCCT relevance and impact.

Jorge Dahdal, MD received the top Rapid Fire score with his presentation, “Prognostic Comparison Of Coronary Calcium Score And CCTA-derived Plaque Burden In Symptomatic Patients.” Tsung-Ying Tsai, MD was the Rapid Fire runner-up with his abstract, "FFRCT Derived Coronary Physiological Pattern And Graft Patency In The FASTTRACK CABG Trial.”

All awardees received a certificate and complimentary registration to a future SCCT educational event.

All abstracts from SCCT Global 2025 | Amsterdam are available in a special supplement of the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (JCCT).

The annual SCCT Global Meeting focuses on innovation in cardiovascular CT, while combining original scientific contributions and clinically oriented lectures divided into focused sessions covering a variety of subjects.

Leading experts in the field of cardiovascular CT and cardiovascular medicine from around the globe covered the current state of cardiovascular CT and the role it will play in 2025 and beyond. Topics included broadening clinical application, updates on technical optimization and discussion of current and future innovation and research in this rapidly evolving field.
