SCCT Statement on Racism and Health Disparities

SCCT supports equal rights and fair treatment for everyone in the workplace and in the community. We support the recent movement to expose institutionalized racism and commit to protecting human rights and addressing inequality.

As a global organization focused on improving health outcomes, we recognize that institutional racism is deeply intertwined with the health and well-being of those being discriminated against. Our staff and members worldwide work to mitigate disparities in cardiovascular care in the communities we serve. Despite our efforts, we recognize that we all need to do more to reduce systemic inequalities and injustice.

SCCT, as a society, reaffirms its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we remain steadfast in our determination to work against racial injustice. We call upon our members to engage with your local healthcare communities in open and transparent dialogue around issues of race and unintentional bias.
