Presenter instructions

 SCCT requires all presenting abstract authors to submit written, signed disclosure of the existence of relevant financial relationships with industry. Presenters who refuse to disclose relevant financial relationships or refuse to attest to the statements in the disclosure form will be disqualified from all aspects of associated CME activities. Presenting authors must submit their disclosure statement online. 

All oral abstract, poster and Rapid Fire ePoster presenters must be registered for the Annual Scientific Meeting.

Presenters of Oral Abstracts and Rapid Fire ePosters must upload their slides in the Speaker Ready Room at least 4 hours before their presentation.

 Rapid Fire ePosters

Where: Exhibit Hall

When: Check your notification for your session time:

  • Friday, July 13, 10:00 – 10:50 am
  • Saturday, July 14, 9:30 – 10:20am
  • Saturday, July 14, 2:45 – 3:35pm

 Format: PowerPoint or Prezi (please go to the Speaker Ready Room to test)

Upload options:

You must upload online by July 10 here: https://presents.prg.com/events/SCCT (use the same email that you registered for SCCT 2018 with)

OR at the Speaker Ready Room (Dallas 1 & 2) at least 4 hours before your session begins.

 

Duration: You have 10 minutes: 7 minutes to present, 3 minutes for discussion

 

Maximum 5-7 slides

  • Introduction: 1 minute
  • Purpose: 1 minute
  • Methods: 1 minutes
  • Results: 2 minutes as needed
  • Limitations: 1 minute
  • Conclusions: 1  minute
  • Significance/Recommendations: optional
  • Discussion with audience: 3 minutes

Text slides

  • Avoid too much text
  • Use large type
  • Maximum 7-8 lines of material per slide, with 8 words per line maximum

To include more data on a readable slide

  • Draw horizontal lines under title/subtitle
  • Use bullets
  • Use phrases, clarify abbreviations

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Too much data on each slide
  • Label titles too small
  • Too many columns in a table
  • Bar graphs with too many bars

 

Oral Abstracts

When: Check your notification for your session/presentation time

Format: PowerPoint, Keynote or Prezi

Upload options:

Posters and Educational Exhibits

 

Where: Exhibit Hall

When: Check your notification for your session/presentation time

 Format and size: Large format printed poster. Maximum poster size is 4’ X 4’ or (121 cm x 121 cm). Please pay strict attention to this size maximum, as larger poster sizes cannot be accommodated.  

 Readability: 

Suggested color combinations best utilize contrasting colors, such as Blue on White or White Dark Green. Choose a clear, simple typeface. Use bold or medium character thickness . Use of less than 30 pt fonts is not recommended. This ensures readability at 6 feet. 

Suggested poster headings: 

  •  Introduction: (brief)
  • Hypothesis/Objectives
  •  Methods                                
  •  Results 
  •  Summary of conclusions (brief)


Display: Posters will be displayed two to a board, with a vertical divider between them. Posters will be displayed on standard cloth-covered poster boards. Pins will be provided. Poster numbers, category assignments, and listings are indicated in a separate document.

Friday posters may be posted between 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm on Thursday, July 12, and between 8:00 am – 9:00 am on Friday, July 13. Posters must be displayed by 9:00 am, Friday, July 13. Posters for the Friday session should remain posted until 8:30 pm, Friday, July 13, after which they must be taken down. Remaining posters will be discarded.

Saturday posters may be posted between 8:30 pm – 9:30 pm on Friday, July 13, and between 7:30 am – 8:30 am on Saturday, July 14. Posters  must be displayed by 8:30 am, Saturday, July 14. Posters for the Saturday session should remain posted until 5:00 pm, Saturday, July 14, after which they must be taken down. Remaining posters will be discarded.
